La Nova Singers are a classical vocal ensemble at the forefront of reviving a singing tradition that was almost lost – the art of Bel Canto. This is a technique that originated in Italy in the 17th Century and is now taught by Michelle Nova, our musical director.
In 2004, due to popular demand, Michelle formed a choir from the pupils of her independent singing school. The all-female group now has 14 singers who are trained in the Bel Canto technique and produce a very distinctive sound.
We strive to deliver musical excellence and to put on exciting, engaging performances – whether we’re singing in a castle, at a church wedding or in a shopping centre. As well as enriching people’s lives by allowing them to experience the thrill of live music, we support community initiatives and partner with local and national charities to help raise vital funds for their work. This has included serenading sponsored walkers at twilight for Marie Curie; singing at a public memorial service for those affected by cancer; putting on a WW1-themed concert in aid of Help For Heroes; and many more.
