All-female classical choir La Nova Singers

La Nova Singers are primarily a classical vocal ensemble, but our repertoire is diverse and includes traditional choral, sacred, opera, musicals and pop music. We’ve also had the fantastic opportunity to give the first performance of some pieces of contemporary choral music, including new works by James D’Angelo and Ed Scolding, and an arrangement by Patrick Hawes of his popular piece ‘Quanta Qualia’.

Here are some highlights of the music we’ll present at our concert in Christchurch Priory on Saturday 16 July 2016:

  • Ave Verum – Mozart
  • Cantique de Jean Racine – Saint-Saens
  • Apres un Reve – Fauré
  • If Music Be the Food of Love – Purcell
  • Come Ye Sons of Art – Purcell
  • Gloria – Vivaldi
  • land cycle – Ed Scolding (world première)
  • Dirait-on – Morten Lauridsen
  • Summer (from Two Eastern Pictures) – Holst
  • Silent Noon – Vaughan-Williams
  • The Blue Bird – Stanford
  • Beau Soir – Debussy
  • Here in my Heart – Sarah Quartell
  • Sonnet – James Macmillan
  • Midsummer Night’s Dream – ‘Ye Spotted Snakes’ and ‘Finale’ – Mendelssohn
