Are you an ambitious singer with experience in classical singing, looking for a new challenge? This is a rare opportunity to be part of our established, award-winning female-voice choir, based in Bournemouth.

As with all long-running musical groups, members occasionally move on to pastures new – which means we now have space for new voices to join our ranks! We’re a close-knit group who are committed to high standards of singing, performance and presentation.

We’re recruiting!

After 20 years of drawing our members only from the pupils of Michelle Nova’s singing school, La Nova Studios, it’s time for a new chapter. We are now looking for a handful of new members to join our award-winning choir for women and upper voices.

La Nova Singers is a choir of around 13 soprano and alto singers, established in the Bournemouth area in 2005. We rehearse weekly at Iford Baptist Church, Old Bridge Road, Iford, Bournemouth BH6 5RG. Our singers are mainly from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area but we have had people coming from as far away as Salisbury, Southampton and Dorchester!

Despite our professional look and sound, La Nova Singers is a amateur choir. Our singers pay a monthly subscription, which helps towards our running costs. We’re proud members of Making Music, the UK’s membership organisation for leisure-time music-makers; and our group is formed under a charitable constitution – that means all money we raise from subs and concert income is reinvested into the choir.

How to Join Us

If you think we’d be a good fit for you, the next step is to contact our Musical Director, Michelle Nova, for a friendly chat. An informal audition can be arranged at a time and date to suit you, plus we’ll arrange for you to come along to one of our rehearsals and meet the team.

As an experienced vocal tutor and singer herself, and as the founder of La Nova Singers, Michelle knows the ‘LNS’ sound inside and out. She has decades of expertise and has worked with singers at all levels of ability – and confidence!

An audition with Michelle is just a chance for her to get to know you and your voice, and to see whether your sound will be a good fit with the other voices in the choir. These are some of the qualities we are looking for:

  • Experienced singers (either choral or solo singing experience – both count!)
  • Confident sight-reading skills
  • Ambitious and able to commit to our schedule of rehearsals and performances
  • Happy to develop the voice and to learn aspects of ‘Bel Canto’ vocal technique
  • An even tone throughout the voice
  • Voices in the soprano, alto or mezzo-soprano vocal ranges
